Vol. 1 eBookI am a big fan of Nihei's environments and art Having this manga reprinted was a welcome surprise Pages are thick and look great Thanks to Vertical for giving this old series new lifeI really like the larger format book which helps emphasize the scale of the environments Structures fill an entire page seemingly going on forever There isn't a ton of dialogue which is purposeful If you like sci fi space and dark brooding worlds you will enjoy this and all of Nihei's work Robots monsters bio mechanics and technology are present throughout the work oh and gore If you enjoy The Matrix Aliens or HR Giger then you should try Blame

Vol. 1 eBookThis is a real page turner and every panel a painting Lots of perspective drawing which makes the environment itself both the focal point and the adversary of the novel Characters are beautifully drawn with lots of imaginative and dynamic forms The figurative style of the characters are obviously mangaanime with a touch of fashion illustrations in regard body dimensions and leg lengthThe dystopian environment the character is trapped within is a bleak machine sprawl that extends out into all directions It as if our characters are trapped within a microchip thousands of stories tall and endless in all directions Within this infinite prison are numerous genetic variations freaks humans robots cyborgs all desp

Vol. 1 eBookA really outstanding job by Vertical Seeing as this is a reprint of an older series that is fairly well known I won't focus on the uality of story itself Instead I'll just give a few uick words about uality of the printing and translationThe paper uality and overall uality of the physical book itself is really impressive the paper feels fantastic to the touch and no details are lost due to shoddy printing uality The translation is serviceable at the worst some of latinization of names are a bit uestionable particularly the accepted Killy

Vol. 1 eBookWhen Netflix picked up the Knights of Sidonia anime I was incredibly excited not because Knights is especially good but because it gave me hope that the author's far better work Blame would finally get a reprint Now it has been and regular people can own a copy without having to sell a major organThe story takes place in an absolutely vast machine structure that likely spans all of existence or at least eventually will It's a chaotic and bewildering space of nonsensical architecture that seems to have been designed by a computer that was never told to stop building and then further built upon or dismantled by various creatures and human societies Most of the value in Blame lies in gawping at the beautifully drawn vistas that are chock full of details that fire the imaginatio

Vol. 1 eBookManga isn't exactly associated with good writing so I didn't go in expecting a great deal from it story wise If you want to pick this up do so for the architecture of the setting it is fantastic and bleak and interesting The group designs for the Administration Silicons etc are all uite nice Aside from that there is very little to enjoy It comes across as the artists wanting to draw some interesting scenery and then linking it together with the vague thread of a narrative which acts as a thread by which all the expected cliches and tropes are linkedProtagonist is generic Broody Mcuietpants with an overpowered gun looking for a McGuffin in an inexplicably hostile world He wonders aro

Vol. 1 eBookBlame is something else when it comes to manga it's not really about the narrative it's about the visuals than anything And telling a story that is told MOSTLY through imagery is not easy Blame does it flawlessly The artwork is dodgy in the first half but gets very good on the second

Vol. 1 eBookThe feeling I had when I finished this book was hard to describe the atmosphere that is created mainly by the imagery in this book in incredibly bleak alien and terrifying while also peppered with moments of awe and hopeWith so little dialogue it does an amazing job of telling a great story primarily with visuals alone
